Dance Effects 2010-2011 Dress Code

General Rules:

  • Appropriate dance basics such as leotards, tights, exercise shorts, jazz pants, sports bras, etc. must be worn.
  • Warm-up clothing such as sweat-shirts and sweat-pants can be worn over appropriate basics. Extra layers are important in assisting muscles throughout the warm-up process, but must be removed when the warm-up process is completed.
  • Excessive baggy clothing is not acceptable.
  • Street clothes are not acceptable.
  • NO JEANS, KHAKIS, OR SKIRTS.
  • Hair must be worn up and out of the face.

Young Dancers:

  • Mommy & Me:
    • Any color leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes
    • Comfortable exercise clothing for the moms
  • Combo:
    • Pink leotard (with or without skirt), pink tights
    • Pink ballet shoes
    • Black or tan tap shoes with a low heel
  • Creative Movement : Pre-Ballet
    • Pink leotard (with or without skirt), pink tights, pink ballet shoes
    • Hair should be pulled back off the face

Tap:

  • Appropriate dance basics.
  • Tap shoes with a low heel (black or tan).

Jazz:

  • Jazz pants or exercise shorts.
  • Split-sole dance shoe (black or tan).

Ballet I-IV, Pointe:

  • Black leotard, pink tights, pink split sole ballet shoes.
  • Black ballet skirt or ballet shorts acceptable but no tank tops or exercise shorts.
  • NO TAN COLORED TIGHTS.
  • Hair must be secured in a BUN!!

Lyrical:

  • Appropriate dance basics.
  • Lyrical shoes.

Modern:

  • Appropriate dance basics.
  • Bare feet or lyrical shoes.

Hip Hop:

  • Plain sneakers.
  • Sweat-pants and sweat-shirts are acceptable.
  • No street clothes or jeans.

Zumba:

  • Exercise clothing and tennis shoes.

Pilates:

  • Tight fitted exercise clothing.
  • Exercise mat.
