Dress Code

Why a Dress Code???

A dress code helps promote a controlled and productive learning environment. Proper shoes are essential for the safety of your dancer.

General rules:

  • Appropriate dance basics such as leotards, tights, exercise shorts, jazz pants, sports bras, etc. must be worn.
  • Warm-up clothing such as sweat-shirts and sweat-pants can be worn over appropriate basics. Extra layers are important in assisting muscles throughout the warm-up process, but must be removed when the warm-up process is completed.
  • Excessive baggy clothing is not acceptable.
  • Street clothes are not acceptable.
  • NO JEANS, KHAKIS, OR SKIRTS.
  • Hair must be worn up and out of the face.

Young Dancers

Combo

  • Leotard (with or without skirt), pink tights
  • Pink ballet shoes
  • Black tap shoes with a low heel

Creative Movement; Pre-ballet

  • Pink leotard (with or without skirt), pink tights
  • Pink ballet shoes
  • Hair should be pulled back off the face

Ballet I-IV & Pointe

  • Black leotard, pink tights, pink split-sole ballet shoes
  • Black ballet skirt or ballet shorts acceptable but no tank tops or exercise shorts
  • NO TAN COLORED TIGHTS!
  • Hair must be secured in a BUN!!!

Hip Hop

  • Plain sneakers
  • sweat-pants and sweat-shirts acceptable
  • No street clothes, jeans, or skirts

Jazz

  • Jazz pants or exercise shorts
  • Split-sole jazz shoes (black or tan)

Lyrical

  • Appropriate dance basics
  • Lyrical shoes

Modern

  • Appropriate dance basics
  • Bare feet

Tap

  • Appropriate dance basics
  • Tap shoes with a low heel (black or tan)

Pilates

  • Exercise clothing
  • Exercise mat

Ballet Fit

  • Form fitting exercise attire
  • Socks or ballet shoes

Zumba

  • Exercise clothing and tennis shoes
