Katie Warren- Artistic Director/Owner

Katie received her BA in Dance from San Jose State University where she studied advanced level technique in ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Her SJSU education also includes extensive course work in choreography under direction of Fred Mathews and Janie Scott, and additional education in dance history and dance kinesiology, as well as basic training in dance production, with emphasis on lighting and costuming. Katie was a four-year Dean's Scholar and received the Spreen Award for Academic Excellence from the School of Music and Dance. She was also a member of SJSU's advanced performing company, University Dance Theatre, and created many original works of choreography which were performed and evaluated at SJSU dance concerts.

Katie has been a teacher at Dance Effects, under previous directorship since 2004. She has taught beginning through advanced ballet and pointe, as well as classes in jazz and lyrical. She grew up dancing for 14 years in Montana where she performed in many featured roles in Ballets including the Nutcracker, Paquita, and Who Cares. Katie has also studied at Ballet West Conservatory, Ballet San Jose, Montana Dance Arts Associations and numerous Summer Dance Labs.

As the new owner and director of Dance Effects she is excited to share her love of dance and passion for teaching with all of her students.
